The Threshold From Wilderness to Promised Land (Part II)

The Lord directs our path in steps and stages. The more in tune we are with Him, the less frustrating the journey becomes!

Here are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron. At the Lord’s command Moses recorded the stages in their journey. This is their journey by stages: Numbers 33:1-2 (NIV)

This passage from Numbers provides a structured account of the Israelites’ journey from Egypt and Moses’ guidance at the command of the Lord. Each stage represents a significant point in their journey, marked by both physical and spiritual progress.

The above passage is a reminder that our own life journeys have various milestones and stages, which are guided by the Lord encouraging us to reflect back on God’s faithfulness and the lessons we’ve learned along the way.

In our culture, there’s a strong emphasis on independence and being goal oriented, leading many to believe they can meticulously plan their lives and chart their own course. However, when things deviate from their plans or fail to unfold within their expected timeframe, they often become flustered or perceive themselves as failures. Yet, the reality is that we are entirely reliant on the Lord. He is the one who guides our steps and determines their timing.

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Joshua 1:5

The Lord promised Joshua that He was going to be him. This was a great reassurance. He also told him that he would never leave nor forsake him. This is a powerful affirmation of God’s enduring presence and support in the life of Joshua, as well as in the lives of all who trust in Him. The promise that “no one will be able to stand against you” is a reassurance of divine protection and victory.

Just as God was with Moses, guiding and sustaining him through every trial and triumph, so too has was going to be with Joshua never abandoning him or leaving him.

The above verse is a reminder of the unwavering faithfulness of God. The Lord is the source of strength and encouragement. Therefore, we can press forward with confidence and courage in our own journeys.

Jesus promised His disciples that the precious Holy Spirit will come upon them and to be with them after His resurrection. This is God’s promise to all of His children. Staying close to the Lord should be our goal and ambition. Nothing else compares.

Instead of looking for the right outcomes or obsessing over our goals, we need to take comfort in the fact that God is with us. That is more important than any achievement we could attain independent from Him.

When we align ourselves with the Lord and remain in tune with His guidance, the journey becomes smoother and less burdensome. Trusting in His direction and timing brings peace and assurance, even in the midst of challenges. Let’s strive to stay connected to Him, allowing His wisdom and guidance to lead us forward step by step.
