The Lord’s Method of Transformation

The law of the Lord comprises His testimonies, statutes, and commandments, and it brings numerous benefits to our lives as Psalm 19 explains.

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. Psalm 19:7-9

God’s law transforms and converts our hearts, minds, and wills. As we learn and obey God’s Word, we become new creations who are growing up in God. However, some people struggle with persistent issues because they are unwilling to turn to God’s Word for transformation. We cannot seek the Bible solely for encouragement while neglecting its transformative power. While comfort and encouragement are important, allowing God’s law to renew our hearts and minds is of paramount importance.

The Lord’s testimonies are trustworthy. They leave no room for ambiguity and provide wisdom to the simple and inexperienced. We don’t have to rely on trial and error to learn life’s lessons; we can do what is right from the start by following God’s Word.

His statutes are right and His righteousness brings joy to our hearts. Right living settles the heart and clears the mind, lifting the fog of confusion.

God’s commandments are pure because He is holy. His commands have no ulterior motive; they are given for our good. Obeying them allows us to grow in health and strength in every area of life.

The fear of the Lord is clean. It is free from manipulation or evil. Far from being oppressive, it liberates us from all other fears. To the extent that we respond to the fear of the Lord, we remain protected from harm and foolishness.

Praise God for His judgments! They are completely accurate and fair. God’s judgments are never arbitrary or based on fleeting emotions. He is patient and righteous in His judgment, free from partiality, politics, or personal agendas. His principles remain constant through eternity. Praise Him for His justice!

As God’s people, we must be willing to lay aside cultural values and family traditions that conflict with His Word. Many people embrace the Bible only to the extent that it doesn’t challenge their old values. True growth requires us to let the Bible be the final authority in every area of life—our marriages, parenting, finances, work, relationships, and even how we treat our enemies.

Is reading the Bible part of your daily life? If it’s not a priority, how can you be sure you’re walking in obedience to Him?
