These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthian 2:13-16
In the above passage, Apostle Paul tells us that we have the mind of Christ! That’s very good news! It doesn’t have to take us several years before we gain the mind of Christ, but we already have it!
When we accept Jesus, the Lord changes our nature. Many of us have heard this before, but we don’t usually think about how it benefits our minds. If our nature has changed then our minds have changed too. That’s why we recognize the error of our ways, and we repent, which is about having a change of mind. Praise God for a change of mind!
Now that we have the mind of Christ, we need to cultivate it. Just as our new nature is like a brand new baby that needs to be fed and cared for, the same is true with our minds. We need to allow our minds to develop and mature. How do we do that? We need to do it by exercising our minds in the direction of spiritual things.
1. The truth about our identity
Jesus continually proclaimed and affirmed His relationship with the Father. We need to begin by declaring the truth that we belong to Him. We are a child of God. We have the helmet of salvation that protects us from the feeling of being abandoned or unwanted. It reminds us of our relationship with the Lord and that He owns us. He is our shepherd.
2. The truth about God’s authority
Jesus was not moved by the circumstances. He continued to look to the Lord knowing that He is with Him. While many had spiritual labels and clothing of authority, Jesus knew whom He should look to for ultimate authority, security, and protection! We need to find the beautiful balance of authority and security in God! Sometimes we have the words, but we need to continue to press in to get stronger and more submitted in this area.
Are you cultivating the mind of Christ!? Do you find having success over your emotions and thoughts because you are connecting with how Jesus would think about those situations!?
Study the scriptures where Jesus talks about His relationship with the Father and ask the Lord to help you apply them to your life.
