The Question of Origin
We live in a world that continues to confuse people about who they are and their significance. Everything is in question including God, Jesus, the origin of human beings, gender, and sexuality. Therefore, it is important to go back to the basics and remind ourselves of where we came from. Our importance is tied to our origin.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:26-28
The Lord created us in His image. This is very important. We are not a product of natural processes over billions of years and neither did we evolve from animals. To the contrary, God made us His special creation. We were created in two genders, and He made us to rule on the earth and to subdue it. The Lord could have designed us any other way, but He chose to do it this way.
Why is our origin important!? It is important for many reasons, but one of those reasons is that our significance is not up to us, others, or the whim of culture. We all desire to be loved and appreciated, but when our value is dependent on how we we see ourselves or how others perceive us, we are on a slippery slope of darkness, confusion, and hopelessness.
The enemy is cunning and deceptive, and his strategy is to continue to steal, kill, and destroy people’s lives by infusing lies in their hearts and minds. For years, people have been taught that Evolution is a fact. This has led people to look to self-help books instead of looking to the Bible to find answers to life. They search for gurus and celebrities who can make sense of life for them. They use mediations, yoga, and other forms of transcendental spiritism trying to find peace, light, and meaning in a world that has no meaning apart from their Creator!
After having brain-washed a couple of generations of people with these destructive evolutionary and natural selection ideas, people are going down the slippery slope of questioning their design, gender, sexuality, and ethnicity. You see, human beings were created to be secure and significant because we were made in God’s image. However, by being told continually that they are not created in God’s image and that they just happen to come into being by natural processes, the enemy has stolen their identity. Now they are in search of their identity in all the wrong places trying to settle their inner need for value and security.
For those of you with family members in schools and colleges, please pray for them and talk to them about God’s truth. Go over the Genesis account of Creation. Find other valuable resources, books, and videos that teach them about Creation. All these worldly teachings seem harmless at the beginning, but when you take them to their logical conclusions they have a huge impact on the hearts and minds of people! Let’s combat this by fighting in the Spirit and with God’s truth! Our significance is tied to the one who created us!
