God and Government – (Part II) – Self Government

 

When we think of the term “government,” our thoughts usually take us to an impersonal large institution, and we assume that the subject matter is the civil government. However, the definition of government according to the 1828 Webster’s Dictionary has a much wider range than the concept we are familiar with these days. This is the key foundational issue in our understanding and expectation of government!

When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,

The Good Shepherd’s goodness and mercy 

A shepherd thinks and cares about his sheep all the time. He knows that he cannot afford to forget about his responsibility in taking care of his helpless lamb. Similarly, God knows the helpless state of humanity and desires to shepherd His people! Do you recognize that His goodness and mercy follow you? Are you dwelling in the house of the Lord?
