Personal responsibility (self-governance) has many benefits and the lack of it has many consequences to the individual and the society as a whole!
When we govern ourselves, we take responsibility for our lives, and we choose to do the right thing and stay away from the wrong things. We create healthy and good habits, such as daily Bible reading, worship, and prayer, and we also stay away from things that cause addiction, bondage, and sin, such as alcoholism, overspending, and gambling.

Below are the scriptures and the statistics that I used:
Obesity:
Do not mix with winebibbers, or with gluttonous eaters of meat; for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe a man with rags. Proverbs 23:20-21
“The estimated annual health care costs of obesity-related illness are a staggering $190.2 billion or nearly 21% of annual medical spending in the United States in 2005.
In addition to growing health care costs attributed to obesity, the nation will incur higher costs for disability and unemployment benefits. Businesses are suffering due to obesity-related job absenteeism ($4.3 billion annually). These costs also will continue to rise.
Looking ahead, researchers have estimated that by 2030, if obesity trends continue unchecked, obesity-related medical costs alone could rise by $48 to $66 billion a year in the U.S.”
