The Need for Recovery of Sight (Part II)

Sometimes, Jesus used unconventional ways to heal people’s eyesight. What is the Lord using right now to heal your spiritual sight!?

“Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything.

24 And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.”

Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. 26 Then He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town.” Mark 8:22-26

According to Webster spit means to eject saliva as an expression of aversion or contempt

In the above passage Jesus healed a blind man physically, but we can also have Spiritual blindness that causes us not to see God or others accurately.

When we live for ourselves, we don’t think or care about how our life impacts others. We are blinded by selfish desires and getting the most out of life for ourselves. But when we come to salvation, the Lord opens our eyes up to His Kingdom and the needs of others. We begin to love God and have a new appreciation for people.

What is interesting in verse 23 of the above passage, is that Jesus uses spit to heal this man! Do you know how that word was used in other places in the New Testament? They spit on Jesus when they mocked and ridiculed Him.

You see, spit does not seem to be a loving action. It appears humiliating; but when Jesus used it, the blind man wasn’t offended because He knew that Jesus was touching him for good not for evil.

Are there things going on in your life that appear humiliating!? Do you fear appearing weak or needy!? Maybe the Lord is using your circumstances to open your eyes to new spiritual dimensions. Are you willing for the Lord to use the situation to heal your spiritual sight!?
