The Faithfulness of God (Part I)

The entire Psalm 105 speaks of God’s faithfulness. It recounts God’s hand in the lives of His people starting with Abraham.

We are dependent on the Lord’s faithfulness every single hour! On any given day, we need His protection while we sleep. We need the ability to wake up, and the strength to perform all our responsibilities. This continues to go on throughout the day. In addition to the daily provision and protection, we regularly rely on the Lord’s faithfulness in various areas of our lives such as relationships, marriage, finances, career, education, health, and salvation for loved ones.

Psalm 105 starts with:

“Oh give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works!
Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!
Psalm 105:1-4

The phrase  “give thanks” in the Hebrew means “Yada”. When you look at this word in other scriptures, you find it many times talking about public acknowledgment of God!

There are many people who don’t believe in God or have a very limited understanding of who He is. When we testify about what the Lord has done in our lives, we are painting a picture of God’s love and faithfulness that helps other people see Him better. The scripture calls us ambassadors for Christ”. When we are out in the world telling someone about His faithfulness in our lives, it is like being in a foreign country representing our government and speaking on behalf of our Chief! It’s powerful to be an ambassador for God!

Furthermore, when we speak of God’s faithfulness, it fuels us to seek Him more and want to be close to Him. It brings joy to our hearts that we have a heavenly father who is always willing and able to hear our prayers and be near us.

Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
O seed of Abraham His servant,
You children of Jacob, His chosen ones! Psalm 105:5-6

We are called to remember the marvelous works of God. He is our wonderful counselor, and He does wonderful work in our midst. He sees things with clarity, and He is not swayed by the opinion of man or the trends of the day. This reemphasizes His faithfulness because He does not change based on the voice of culture. He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever.

Think of God’s faithfulness in your life and thank Him for it. Also look for opportunities to share His faithfulness with others!

  1. Thank you for these wonderful reminders of where, or to whom, we need to put our hope; His faithfulness & unchanging promises are what we can hang our Hope & faith on in this rapidly changing world, insecure world. Blessings dear Katline????
