The Great Differentiator (Part II)

Jesus didn’t come to just be a powerful prophet or priest. He wasn’t looking for attention or titles. While He did many miracles, His goal wasn’t just to create followers for Himself. Jesus came to overcome death, sin, and darkness by being raised on the third day. He bought our freedom, and He paved the way for eternal life for whosoever believes in Him!

Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,  of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.  And this we will do if God permits. Hebrews 6:1-3

Every church should be in the business of teaching the above elementary truths. Every person is a sinner in need of repentance. All other religions may have some good or nice sayings, but none of them can bring a sinful man to God! There is a chasm that only Jesus was able to bridge through His sacrifice on the cross. We also cannot achieve heaven by our dead and carnal works and neither can we reach heaven because we are from the family line of priests and bishops.

What we were incapable of doing, Jesus did for us on the cross. Therefore, those who are in Christ have the hope of salvation. The good news is that those who are in Christ will be resurrected and will go to heaven. Those who are outside of Christ will be faced with eternal judgement. This is the part of the gospel that many don’t talk about, but the truth is that Jesus’ sacrifice was to spare humanity from eternal damnation. He has provided the gift of salvation without partiality to race, gender, ethnicity, or family background. The invitation is available to those who come to Him, but for those who reject His gift there remains no other solution.

For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8

Christ died for the ungodly and the sinners, and many still do not recognize Him for who He is and what He has done for them. This message needs to be preached, so people have the opportunity to hear it and make a decision. The invitation to salvation must also be given.

We live in a time that everyone is super sensitive about being judged. As a result, many of us shy away from being bold about what people need to know. May the Lord give us the boldness to tell people the whole truth. Let’s pray that the Lord would also give us the skill to share it in such a way that draws people’s hearts to Him instead of them feeling judged.

Some of you who are reading this devotional may have never made a decision to accept Jesus or you may have been away from God for a long time. Do you feel like God is distant? Do you know that you are sinner and don’t know how to get rid of the shame and the guilt of what you have done? The first step is to accept Jesus’ work on the cross on your behalf receive His forgiveness for your sins. This may also be a time that you choose to recommit your life to Jesus. Click on Salvation Prayer at the top tab and pray the prayer and accept Jesus as your savior and Lord. Let Him wash and cleanse you from all sin and reconcile you to Himself!
