The Spirit of the Lord is upon Jesus to bring miraculous changes into our lives, and one of those changes is the recovery of our sight!
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”Luke 4: 18-19
This scripture tells us that Jesus came to bring recovery of sight. That means there was a time humanity was able to see. Adam walked with God. He was able to be in relationship with the Lord and have the correct perception of the Lord. However, once sin entered the world, their perception of reality changed and they could no longer discern correctly the truth about the character and the nature of God. As a result, humanity need the recovery of sight and perception!
Jesus healed those who were blind both naturally and spiritually. Jesus wants to heal those who can’t see.
When a person is blind spiritually, they don’t know what they cannot see. They don’t know what they are missing. It is only in conversations with an unconverted person that a believer realizes that the person has not seen the light of Truth yet!
There is also those of us who have been saved years ago and the Lord opened their eyes. However, some may have gone back into analyzing things in a carnal manner. They may rationalize and justify things in the way that naturally make sense, and the unbelieving friends are in agreement with them.
Sometimes, offenses, bitterness, waiting, and un-forgiveness can cloud the vision and taint the perception. This can lead to being cynical, and the believer can no longer see clearly. They only see through the prism of their frustration and they interpret things through the eyes of rejection. When people speak to them about a different reality, they push them away accusing them of being insensitive or blind!
How is your spiritual eyesight? Does your eyesight need recovery? Do you have brave people around you who can tell you the truth about your sight!?
