Believe

Is Anything too Hard? (Part II)

In Genesis 17, the scripture tells us that Abraham laughed when God told him that Sarah was going to have a child. In the next chapter, Sarah laughs, too. The promise of God, which would have given them hope years ago, now sounded like a mere joke. It was not believable anymore. The Lord was gracious; He didn’t punish them for their unbelief, but He wasn’t joking! …

Mary Believed God…

Mary believed the Lord when His promise did not make sense in the natural. As a result, she became the mother of the Messiah!

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”

3And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”

Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38

God is honored and pleased with us when we believe Him and take Him at His word.

As far as we know, Mary wasn’t praying and asking God for a baby yet. She was a virgin who was betrothed to be married to Joseph. A pregnancy outside of marriage would have been shameful and humiliating to the girl and her family. The look of judgment from her family and countrymen along with being shunned by people would not have been easy to live with. As a matter of fact, even Joseph had trouble with Mary’s pregnancy.

Believing God opens the door for us to step into the supernatural and begin to see things that others will not see. Believing God fans into flame faith, hope, and love and allows us to keep going even when our understanding is too limited to map out a plan.

The above passage reminds us. ” For with God nothing shall be impossible.”The Lord is a miracle-working God. He is the master of changed hearts and lives!

Today can be a day of renewal of God’s vision for our lives.  The renewal of the vision will require hearing God clearly, believing His word, and recognizing our helplessness and inability to perform it in our understanding and strength. This is the place of simple surrender to His will and His ways. We lean into Him thanking Him for what He is doing in our lives and in the lives of those we are praying for. We make ourselves available for God to perform what He desires whenever he wishes to do so.

Lord, we ask that you would renew our vision today. We choose to believe you again regarding those areas that we thought are impossible. Lord we ask that you would change hearts and perspectives. Let your mighty hand move into our situations and bring forth your great purpose. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
