Unto Us a Son is Given

The beauty of the Christmas season is that it gives us the opportunity to ponder how God has richly blessed humanity with the gift of His Son! “For unto us a Child is born..” This is the Good News that the world desperately needs to hear.

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

The greatest gift that God offered the world came in the form of a helpless baby born to a young unknown couple. The Prince of Peace came to the world without pomp and circumstance and was placed in a manger because the world had no room for Him. The world still has no room for the One who is the answer to true peace.

Life is full of distractions and it always seems difficult to make room for the quiet whisper of the Savior. People look to scientists, politicians, or professors to the dilemmas of life. We rely on our plans and efforts attempting to fix our lives or the lives of our loved ones. But the truth is that Jesus is the answer to the complexities of life, and we may accomplish much in life and still not enjoy the peace and the satisfaction of God. Jesus is the hope of humanity and has all the answers to life. He does not force Himself on anyone, but His invitation of Life is to everyone!

For unto us, the Son of God was given! Our heavenly Father sent His only Son as a gift to us. Jesus came to show us the love of the Father. Those who are willing to open this amazing and unassuming package find eternal and abundant life. The unsophisticated shepherds believed the message of the angels and sought to meet Him. They did not stop there but made the Good news “widely known.” There is no greater gift than obtaining the true eternal life that God intended for us to have.

As we celebrate Christmas and do our gift exchanges, let’s ponder what the gift of Jesus has meant in our lives. How has He redeemed you from the pit of hell and darkness and brought you to His eternal hope? How has he been merciful and gracious and given you a second chance in life? How has He delivered you from various bondages, addictions, and destructive attitudes and habits?

As we give our beautiful gifts to our loved ones, let’s not forget that the greatest gift that we can give them is to share the gift of Jesus. They may not truly grasp this gift, but as you share about the precious gift Jesus has been to you, you are unwrapping your gift before them. You can offer the same gift to your loved ones if they choose to accept it.

May we all receive and enjoy the fullness of peace and joy that Jesus came to offer us!

  1. The Greatest Gift of All! Thank you Karline for the gift of such truth speaking devotions?. No greater gift can be received on this day nor any other day. Merry Christmas ???????

  2. Sandra Richardson

    Thank You Minister Karline!
As I read this beautiful devotional, I am reminded of the Birth of Jesus, and the wise men who came seeking Him, had seen His star, and came to worship Him. When they came into the house, they saw the young child with His mother, & fell down, & worshipped Him & when they had opened their treasures, they presented HIM gifts, gold, frankincense, & myrrh (Matt. 2:1-11). At Christmas let’s give HIM our best gift, our surrendered lives, because He gave us His best gift, His life.
    Miss You All ?

    1. Amen!Praise the Lord! Good to hear from you Sandra. My next devotional is about wise men seeking Him. They came a long way to worship the King, but the religious people were not curious enough to seek Him.

We miss having you at church and miss your powerful prayers. Take care sister.
